Oloroso is an oxidatively aged sherry that matures in oak casks for many years, developing remarkable aromatic density - qualities that are permanently embedded in the barrel wood.

During maturation without flor yeast, a concentrated, nutty, and spice-driven aromatic profile emerges. Typical characteristics include pronounced hazelnut and walnut notes, accompanied by dried fruits, caramel, toffee, and fine spice nuances. The American oak enhances this profile with additional vanilla and toasted aromas as well as a warm oak sweetness, without overshadowing the sherry’s dry, structured core.

The 250-liter barrel size offers a well-balanced ratio of wood surface to liquid volume. This allows for intensive yet well-controlled aroma transfer, making these Oloroso sherry barrels suitable for both medium-term and longer aging periods.

After completion of the sherry maturation, the barrels are freshly emptied and carefully inspected, professionally prepared, and optimized for shipment at the cooperage of Casknolia in Andalusia. This ensures that every barrel meets the high quality and sensory standards required for successful re-filling.

These 250-liter Oloroso sherry barrels are ideally suited for the storage and finishing of premium spirits such as whisky, rum, and brandy. Barrel-aged beers and ciders also benefit from the nutty depth, oxidative complexity, and warm oak integration that these casks impart to the aging product.

These American oak Oloroso sherry barrels are the perfect choice for producers seeking an intense, oxidatively influenced sherry cask with reliable provenance and versatile applications for spirits, beers, and cider.

FLAVOURS:

DOWNLOAD: Guidelines for Used Barrels

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Our products are exclusively sold to businesses or traders as defined by § 14 of the German Civil Code.
