FULLY REFURBISHED TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS
These original 40/45 hL open-top oak vats were handcrafted in Italy from premium European oak. After many years of professional use, they have been completely refurbished by experienced master coopers and are now in outstanding technical and cosmetic condition.
Built with 55 mm thick oak staves and a traditional open-top design, these vats combine authentic Italian cooperage with the requirements of modern production facilities. They are ready for immediate use and are ideally suited for open fermentation and the processing of premium products in wineries, distilleries, breweries, cideries, and other producers of fermented beverages.
COMPLETE REFURBISHMENT BY EXPERIENCED MASTER COOPERS
As part of the comprehensive restoration process, all interior surfaces have been carefully re-planed to remove residues, deposits, and the worn wood layer, exposing fresh, clean European oak. This creates optimal hygienic conditions for renewed use while providing the ideal environment for controlled fermentation and premium product development.
The exterior has then been completely sanded, restoring the oak's natural beauty and giving each vat a premium, well-maintained appearance. Finally, all hoops, structural components, and seals are thoroughly inspected to ensure every vat meets the demanding standards of professional production environments.
The result is a fully refurbished oak vat offering exceptional hygiene, durability, functionality, and long-term reliability.
OPEN-TOP DESIGN FOR INTENSIVE FERMENTATION
Constructed with 55 mm thick European oak staves, these vats provide excellent thermal stability while allowing the wood's natural breathability to promote gentle micro-oxygenation throughout fermentation.
The open-top design provides unrestricted access to the fermenting product, making these vats ideal for manual punch-downs, pump-overs, cap management, and other traditional open-fermentation techniques widely used in premium winemaking. Breweries also benefit from the open design when producing specialty barrel-fermented and wood-fermented beers, while distilleries can use the vats for fermenting a wide variety of grain, fruit, or agave mashes and other raw materials.
Their versatility makes these open-top oak vats an excellent choice for producers seeking both traditional craftsmanship and maximum production flexibility.
