Located on the island of Islay, the Laphroaig Distillery is renowned for its uncompromising character and unmistakable peat smoke profile, which becomes deeply embedded in the oak.

Crafted from American oak and previously used to mature intensely smoky single malt whisky, these casks carry an exceptionally bold sensory signature. They provide ideal conditions for maturation projects focused on intensity, character, and strong identity.

CHARACTER & AROMATICS
Laphroaig casks are defined by a powerful and multi-layered aroma profile. Dominant is the signature peat smoke, accompanied by medicinal notes, iodine, seaweed, and a clear maritime freshness. At the same time, a surprisingly soft and slightly sweet base provides balance and structure to the intense smokiness.

Typical for these casks is a dense interplay of oily peat smoke with campfire and smoked notes, maritime influences such as salt, algae, and sea breeze, as well as medicinal tones with iodine and phenols. Subtle vanilla and oak notes from the American oak add further depth and harmony.

These Islay whisky casks are ideal for the storage, aging, and finishing of bold spirits such as whisky, rum, or experimental distillates. They are especially suited for projects where smoky, maritime, and character-driven flavors are intentionally emphasized.
