HERBAL, SPICY & CHARACTERFUL IN COMPACT FORMAT
Our reconstructed barrels made from vermouth casks from Spain combine traditional cooperage craftsmanship with the reuse of highly expressive oak wood. In our cooperages, original oak barrels that previously held vermouth are transformed into carefully crafted small-format aging barrels with capacities of 27, 55, and 110 liters. These compact oak barrels are ideal for the professional aging, finishing, and flavor refinement of whisky, rum, gin, aromatic distillates, beer, or cider.

Maturation with traditionally produced vermouth imparts an intense and complex herbal aroma profile to the wood. Typical notes include fine herbal nuances, supported by a balanced combination of sweetness and bitterness. This profile is complemented by elegant spice and subtle oak notes, adding structure, depth, and balance.

FROM VERMOUTH CASK TO COMPACT AGING BARREL
For the reconstruction process, original vermouth casks are professionally dismantled. The staves are precisely shortened, newly fitted, and then reassembled using traditional cooperage techniques to create smaller aging barrels.

The reduced volume creates a highly active barrel: the increased ratio of wood surface to liquid ensures an intense yet controlled flavor interaction. This makes these small-format barrels particularly suitable for finishing projects, experimental batches, or targeted maturation concepts with clearly defined spice profiles.

ARTISAN RECONDITIONING & MAXIMUM QUALITY
Our experienced coopers refurbish each reconstructed barrel with the utmost care. The staves are inspected and reworked if necessary, the exterior surfaces are finely sanded, and the barrel hoops are adjusted or renewed. Special attention is given to tightness, wood quality, and sensory performance.

The result is technically flawless, highly aromatic oak barrels that preserve the character of the original vermouth while offering optimal conditions for refilling and maturation.

Rebuilt vermouth casks offer a particularly spicy and characterful alternative to conventional small-format barrels. The sizes 27, 55, and 110 liters allow targeted flavor control and are ideal for producers seeking to integrate complex herbal notes, bittersweet character, and a distinctive cask influence into their maturation projects.

Oak barrels in a compact format – reconstructed barrels with intense herbal spice, elegant bittersweet notes, and versatile applications in distilling and brewing.
