INTENSE FRUIT CHARACTER & ITALIAN BARREL HERITAGE
Our reconstructed Amarone red wine barrels made from French oak combine the powerful aromatic profile of one of Italy’s most renowned wines with traditional cooperage craftsmanship. Original Amarone barrels are carefully rebuilt in our cooperages into high-quality small formats of 27, 55, and 110 liters, making them ideal for the aging, finishing, and flavor enhancement of whisky, rum, gin, beer, and other spirits.
The Amarone della Valpolicella previously matured in these barrels is celebrated for its intense fruit character, depth, and warm, concentrated aromatics. During wine maturation, the oak absorbs distinctive notes of ripe cherry, dark berries, raisins, and plum, complemented by hints of chocolate, delicate spice, and the elegant tannin structure of French oak.
This complex aromatic profile remains embedded in the wood and creates a highly expressive barrel character when the cask is refilled.
FROM AMARONE WINE BARREL TO COMPACT MATURATION CASK
For the reconstruction process, original Amarone barrels are carefully dismantled. Our master coopers precisely shorten the barrel staves, reassemble them, and rebuild them using traditional cooperage techniques to create smaller maturation casks.
Thanks to the reduced volume, these barrels become particularly active maturation vessels. The increased wood-to-liquid contact surface allows the stored aromas in the oak to transfer faster and more intensively to the spirit or beverage inside.
This makes reconstructed Amarone barrels especially attractive for finishing projects, small production batches, experimental aging, and craft distilling.
TRADITIONAL COOPERAGE & CAREFUL RECONDITIONING
Our experienced coopers carefully prepare each reconstructed barrel. The staves are inspected and refined, the exterior barrel surfaces are finely sanded, and the barrel hoops are adjusted, replaced, or renewed where necessary.
Particular attention is paid to tightness, structural stability, and the aromatic quality of the wood to ensure durable and technically flawless barrels. The result is a high-quality, aromatically active maturation cask that preserves the original Amarone oak character while offering optimal conditions for refilling.
Resized Amarone red wine barrels made from French oak offer an exceptional combination of dark fruit aromas, elegant tannin structure, and Italian wine heritage. The 27, 55, and 110 liter formats are ideal for producers seeking an intensely aromatic red wine cask for spirits, beer, or creative maturation projects.
Amarone reconstructed barrels – concentrated fruit, French oak, and traditional cooperage craftsmanship for distinctive maturation.
