Our reconditioned Sauternes barrels are exclusive handcrafted originals made from authentic, pre-seasoned Sauternes barriques sourced from the world-famous Bordeaux wine region. In our cooperages, these barrels are expertly transformed into smaller premium sizes – 27 l, 55 l, and 110 l – ideal for aging, flavoring, and finishing whisky, rum, beer, gin, or liqueurs.

These unique barrels preserve the luxuriously sweet and fruity character of the legendary Sauternes dessert wine. Notes of honey, mango, pineapple, vanilla, and ripe peach merge with the fine structure of French oak to create a harmonious, wine-rich aroma profile of exceptional depth and elegance.

REBUILT BY HAND FROM ORIGINAL SAUTERNES CASKS
For reconditioning, original 225L Sauternes barrels are carefully dismantled, shortened, and traditionally reassembled. The result: compact, airtight, and aromatically active casks that retain the authentic essence of Sauternes wine.

The smaller size intensifies the contact between wood and spirit, allowing the fruity sweetness, floral notes, and golden richness to infuse the liquid more deeply and evenly – making these barrels perfect for luxury finishing projects.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & SUSTAINABILITY
Each reconditioned barrel is technically and sensorially optimized by our master coopers. The oak staves are sanded and inspected, while hoops are adjusted or replaced. The result: durable, high-quality small-format barrels that combine artisanal precision with sustainable material use.

Every Sauternes reconditioned barrel is a handcrafted original, blending traditional French winemaking heritage with modern sustainability – a true piece of craftsmanship for premium aging and finishing.
