These Rivesaltes barrels originate from the area surrounding the town of Rivesaltes in the historic wine region of Languedoc-Roussillon. They were filled for many years with Rivesaltes wines - a classic Vin Doux Naturel - and have consequently developed a deep, warm, and multi-layered aromatic profile.

The barriques are typically seasoned with Rivesaltes wine for around five years. During this time, the oak barrels absorb intense sweet-spicy aromas that become permanently embedded in the wood. Characteristic notes include raisins, ripe plums, dried fruits, and nuts, complemented by delicate caramel nuances and an elegant oxidative depth. The wine’s natural sweetness remains well balanced and harmoniously integrated throughout.

Thanks to this pronounced yet well-balanced aromatic character, Rivesaltes oak barrels are ideally suited for the storage and finishing of a wide range of spirits such as whisky, rum, and brandy. Barrel-aged beers and ciders also benefit from the dark-fruited sweetness, nutty depth, and warm structure that these casks impart to the aging product.

Each barrel is carefully selected, thoroughly inspected, and professionally prepared prior to delivery to ensure optimal conditions for successful re-filling. Due to their long prior filling and clearly defined regional origin, these barrels offer a high degree of sensory stability and reproducibility.

These Rivesaltes barrels from southern France are the perfect choice for producers seeking a sweet wine cask with pronounced depth, complex aromatics, and versatile applications for spirits, beers, and cider -rooted in one of France’s most tradition-rich dessert wine regions.
