New Premium Bourbon Barrels from Speyside Bourbon Cooperage® – Craftsmanship Meets Natural Maturation

Since 1947, Speyside Bourbon Cooperage® has stood for exceptional barrel quality and innovation in cooperage. With an uncompromising commitment to excellence, the company now offers new premium bourbon barrels that stand out for a distinctive feature: the oak used has been air-dried outdoors for 24 months before processing – a crucial factor in the barrels' remarkable maturation quality and sensory impact.

The oak is sourced from the finest growing regions in the United States – the Northern Highlands, the Appalachians, and the Ozark Mountains – and is carefully hand-selected. A significant portion of the wood comes from the immediate vicinity of the company’s site in Jackson, Ohio.

The 24-month open-air drying process allows for a gentle leaching of tannins, encourages a harmonious development of aroma compounds, and ensures optimal structural properties of the wood. This is further refined by a gentle technical drying phase in the company’s custom kiln systems.

The staves are precisely assembled using specially developed CNC technology – an innovative process that results in barrels with extremely tight seals and exceptional dimensional accuracy. This advanced construction method sets Speyside Bourbon Cooperage’s premium barrels well apart from standard market offerings.

These new premium barrels are the ideal choice for distilleries seeking uncompromising quality, depth of flavor, and expertly crafted materials.
