Giraud-Galiana

The 350-liter Tonneaux from Giraud-Galiana, crafted from high-quality Carpathian oak, combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art barrel-making technology. This generous barrel volume enables particularly gentle and even wine maturation, making it ideal for winemakers who want to impart a subtle oak note to their wines without overpowering the fruit aromas. As one of the most exclusive cooperages in France, Giraud-Galiana sets new standards for premium wine aging.

The fine-grained structure of Carpathian oak ensures very gentle micro-oxidation, allowing wines to mature more slowly and harmoniously. Compared to smaller barriques, the larger barrel volume reduces wood extraction, giving wines greater finesse, elegance, and aromatic complexity. This harmonious balance between oxygen contact and wood integration lends the wine complex yet subtle aromas.

Thanks to the larger volume, the oak influence on the wine is refined. While classic barriques often leave a more pronounced oak note, the 350L Tonneaux allow for a slow, nuanced aroma development. The natural aromatics of Carpathian oak support delicate notes of vanilla, gentle spices, and elegant roasted aromas, which subtly blend with the wine’s fruit character.

Giraud-Galiana stands for the highest precision and quality. The staves are made from carefully selected oaks from the oldest and most valuable forests of Eastern Europe. A natural drying period of 24 to 36 months optimizes the physical and chemical properties of the wood, allowing for particularly gentle tannin extraction that harmoniously integrates into the wine’s structure.

The 350L Tonneaux made from Carpathian oak offer even more controlled wine maturation. The larger barrel volume allows for a more precisely regulated oxygen exchange, leading to a longer but gentler aging process. The result: unmistakable elegance, depth, and aromatic complexity, making it perfect for aging both white and red wines.
