Ash features a light yellowish to pale reddish-white color and is widely grown as a hardwood across many regions of Europe. Thanks to its uniform wood structure and very low tannin content, ash is considered one of the mildest barrel woods and is specifically used for spirits where clarity, purity, and balance are paramount.

During maturation in an ash barrel, the influence of the wood remains deliberately subtle. The distillate develops virtually no dominant wood notes, instead gaining structure, softness, and harmonious depth. The minimal tannin release creates a gentle texture that proves particularly effective over longer aging periods in barrel sizes of 225 liters, 300 liters, 400 liters, and 500 liters.
